Abstract

Punjab’s Third Five-Year Plan (1961–66) builds upon the achievements of the previous plans, aiming to ensure balanced economic growth, enhance agricultural productivity, and improve social welfare. Key objectives include expanding irrigation, controlling floods, promoting industrial diversification, generating employment, and uplifting marginalized communities. Financial allocations of ₹231.39 crores support agriculture, power generation, industrial development, transport, education, health, and rural development. The plan emphasizes infrastructural enhancement, technical education, and healthcare expansion, alongside community development initiatives. By strategically targeting economic, social, and regional disparities, the plan seeks to create sustainable growth, improve living standards, and foster holistic development across Punjab.
