Abstract
The First Five Year Plan (1951–1956) represents India’s initial structured effort toward planned economic development after independence. The Plan emphasizes increasing production, reducing social and economic inequalities, and improving living standards through coordinated state and private participation. Priority is given to agriculture, infrastructure, industry, and social services, supported by a carefully designed financial framework. Through democratic planning and public cooperation, the Plan seeks to address immediate developmental challenges while laying a strong foundation for sustainable and equitable national growth.
