Proposals for Second Five Year Plan Animal Husbandry Sector July 1955

Abstract

Intimately connected with the improvement of agriculture is the improvement of the livestock of the State, Rajasthan is an Agricultural State and Cattle play an important part in the life of the people. More than half of our area is arid desert where livestock raising is the mainstay of the population. There are some excellent Rajasthan breeds well known throughout North India both for milk yields and for draught. Our Sheep produce some of the finest carpet wool in the world. It is proposed during the Second Plan period to open 41 new dispensaries, to organize 12 travelling Dispensaries and to convert dispensaries into Veterinary hospitals.
